Did my bank really call me?

The displayed caller number can be spoofed. A familiar number alone therefore does not confirm that the call came from your bank.

Say you will ring back yourself, then end the call. Find the number on the back of your card or in your own online bank. Never use a number you were given in a message or on the call.

A bank does not ask for bank credentials or confirmation codes over the phone. Approve only a confirmation request linked to a transaction you started yourself.

Urgency is a warning sign. Even when the issue is important, you can end the call and ring the bank’s official number yourself.

If you already gave out your codes

Phone your bank and tell them what you gave out. Then report it to Poliisi (the police).
