1. Write down the company's name. Ask for the caller's name and Y-tunnus (Finnish Business ID) as well.
2. End the call. Say: I don't buy anything over the phone. Send me the offer in writing. Then you can hang up.
3. Check it calmly before you buy anything. Find the company's number yourself and call it. Do not use the number from the call or message.

Details to keep private

• Your online banking credentials. Not to a bank, the police or anybody else.
• Your card number or the three digits on the back.
• Remote access, unless you contacted the support service yourself.
• Gift-card codes. A bank, authority or support service will not ask for them.

Urgency and demands for secrecy are common warning signs of fraud.

Useful reminders

• Ending a call is not rude.
• You do not owe anybody a reason for saying no.
• Never give your online banking credentials to anybody.
• Only allow remote access to a support service you contacted yourself.

If something already went wrong

1. Call the bank and explain which details you gave out.
2. You can report the crime online or at a police station. The online service requires accepted electronic identification.
3. End the remote connection and change passwords on another device.
4. Ask someone you trust for help with the next steps if you need it.
