Why is the Tietoturvamerkki label no longer granted?
Answer first
Traficom stopped granting new labels, because the EU's own security requirements came into force for internet-connected devices on 1 August 2025.
Traficom announced on 21 October 2024 that it would stop granting new Tietoturvamerkki (the Finnish Cybersecurity Label) certificates. The stated reason was EU regulation that introduces security requirements for internet-connected radio equipment.
The requirements have applied to internet-connected radio equipment since 1 August 2025. They fall under the CE marking, so a separate voluntary label was no longer needed.
The rules cover a broader range of products, but the CE marking does not compare products or state the length of update support.
The Finnish label is therefore no longer something to look for on a new product. Ask instead how long that model will receive updates.
