Somebody is asking for remote access to my computer. Should I allow it?

Do not open remote access because of an unexpected call or message. It lets another person see your screen and operate the computer.
Remote access programs are legal and useful. The problem is not the program. It is who is asking and who rang whom.
Once the connection is open, the other person can see your screen and use the mouse and keyboard within the permissions granted. Do not open online banking or enter passwords during the session.
A scammer may pose as support, an operator or a bank and claim to have found a problem.
If the connection opened, disconnect the computer and close the remote-access program. Change any credentials exposed during the session from another device.
