Why do scammers call me in particular?

Scam calls are made in large numbers, and a call usually does not mean the caller knows you.

Scam calls can target large lists of phone numbers. A personal tone does not prove that the caller knows you or that the information they give is correct.

The number shown on your screen can be spoofed. Blocking one number can help with nuisance calls, but it cannot stop the same caller from presenting a different number.

You may receive another call or message that promises to recover the money for a fee or credentials. Do not pay or share credentials because of that contact.
