Is an extended warranty worth it?

Usually not. The seller's liability continues under the law after a warranty ends, and it is not tied to a number of years.
A warranty is a voluntary extra. It has to give the buyer more than the law already gives, or it is not a warranty at all.
A warranty running out does not end the seller’s liability. That liability runs for as long as a device of the same kind can reasonably be expected to last.
Ask what the extra cover provides beyond the seller’s statutory liability. Get the answer and exclusions in writing before paying.
Compare the one-off or annual price with the device price, excess, covered events and length of cover.
